I’m Merryon Ryall – a writer, online editor, photographer and general creative obsessive. The idea to start this blog came from a friend’s suggestion that I take a break from the novel that was causing me extreme brain ache and focus instead on creating some carefully crafted short pieces, small scenes and meticulously wrought descriptions.
I’m also hoping this will be a space to share creative ideas and information about what’s happening in the writing world.
One of my first ideas to generate regular creative content was to take note of the stories around me – every morning and afternoon I share a train with hundreds of others. I got to imaging what their lives might be like, who they had relationships with and what might be disturbing their sleep at night. This blogging project I’ve called Tales from the Upfield Line and each post in this series will be categorised under this title.
I work as an online editor and am approaching the end of around three years worth of hard labour to achieve my Masters in Creative Writing.
